Water Well Rehabilitation Products

The corrosion of well casings or screens can cause holes to develop in a casing and cause the screen slot size to increase, allowing sand, fines and gravel pack to enter the well.

The Link-Pipe internal repair sleeves, designed for rehabilitation of well casings and screens, repairs holes, cracks and corrosion damage.

Products

High Pressure Filter-Sleeve is an internal repair method, designed for rehabilitation of well casings, designed for differential pressure up to 50 psi . Repairs holes, cracks and corrosion damage.

Advantages

Compared with resin-sealed repair sleeves, dry Filter-Sleeve™ has several advantages:

  • No time pressure for resin handling

  • No wait for resin to cure

  • The process is clean and dry and allows good control over handling and installation

  • Fast application … 20 minutes to 1.5 hours depending on local conditions: Accessibility, Depth, etc.

  • Fast return to service.

Technical Data:

Sleeve O.D............................................................................... 8"-30"*
Sleeve Length.......................................................................... 6”-36”*
Critical buckling pressure (External hydraulic)............................ 50 psi*
Water Well diameter Reduction (Approx.)....................................  1.25"
* Customization is available on request.

Installation Set Up:

Installation Scheme:

1.Expandable perforated non-corrodible, preferably stainless steel core equipped with a locking mechanism. (The choice of core material is determined by the chemical regime in the well.)

2. Filter Material. After installation, infiltrating water is going through filtration material and perforated sleeve. In time the fines and sand will clog the filter felt and the design pressure comes slowly to the core.

3. Damaged Area

4. Casing

 Water Well ř 15.25” Repair with Link-Pipe High Pressure Filter-Sleeve ™

Repair made by Hellema Holland Engineering Ltda.

  • Corrosion damage at: _____________________________550 Ft. (166.65 m)

  • The hole size (approx):____________________________ 2”x3”

  • Differential pressure at the point of damage ___________50psi

Link-Pipe High Pressure Filter- Sleeve ™ is placed on the installation plug.

Insertion

Sleeve/Plug is ready for insertion

Insertion

On the CCTV monitor the entire  installation process can be followed.

Sleeve is installed

Once the sleeve is brought into repair position monitored by the CCTV camera, the air/hydraulic pressure is introduced and the sleeve is expanded. When full installation pressure is reached the sleeve locks itself in place. Air pressure is then released.

Quality Control Process

The project is considered completed when:

  • All damaged pipe is covered with the SLEEVE
  • All SLEEVE locks are engaged

If some locks are not engaged, insert the plug again, move the plug to the unlocked end of the sleeve and apply 5-15 psi more pressure and repeat the installation.

Low Pressure Sleeveis an internal repair method, designed for rehabilitation of water mains and water wells with differential pressure up to 5 psi. All product components have individual NSF or FDA approval.

Potable Water Well ř 25” Repair with Link-Pipe Low Pressure Sleeve ™

  • In this case the existing corrosion is limited to a 2-sq. inch area in the carbon steel casing above the stainless steel screen

  • Damaged area at 70’ depth

  • Accuracy of installation +/-1”

  • Installation time 20 min.

Video survey

Existing corrosion is limited to a 2-sq. inch area in the carbon steel. Damaged area at 70’ depth

Resin Application

The resin is worked into sleeve's gasket.

Sleeve/Plug Assembly

The SLEEVE is placed on the installation plug.

Insertion

Sleeve/Plug is ready for insertion

Insertion

Sleeve is installed and the plug removed.

Once the sleeve is brought into repair position monitored by the CCTV camera, the air/hydraulic pressure is introduced and the sleeve is expanded. When full installation pressure is reached the sleeve locks itself in place and the resin behind the sleeve starts curing. Air pressure is then released immediately and equipment is retrieved. There is no need to hold the pressure inside the sleeve while resin is curing, since the sleeve is designed as a self curing repair device.
