What is SNAP-LOCK™*? Why Link-Pipe Inc. no longer sells SNAP-LOCK™.
SNAP-LOCK™ is the original design of the stainless steel sleeve invented and patented by Link-Pipe Inc. in 1988. Its design is centered on the mechanical sealing of a compressed foam or rubber gasket surrounding a stainless steel core. Link-Pipe Inc. discontinued the SNAP-LOCK™ design since rubber and certain
plastic foam sealing have been found to be prone to fatigue and hydrophilic rubber to drying out, resulting in a loose sleeve that can easily be dislocated by some cleaning equipment. The original locking mechanism of the SNAP-LOCK™ has been upgraded to a design that can withstand higher lateral infiltration pressures. The other technical difficulty of the SNAP-LOCK™ design is that overexpansion of the sleeve during installation could cause the host pipe to be further damaged and the subsequent seal would ineffective. The patented Grouting Sleeve™, Sewer Sealer™, Pressure Seal™, Hydro-Seal™, and other products listed on this web site have solved these problems.

Old repairs re-visited
Link-Pipe Inc. invented the SNAP-LOCK™ No-Dig Spot Repair system in 1988 and filed the patent application on October 31, 1988. Patents were awarded to Link-Pipe in the US, Canada, and in many other countries world-wide. In Dec. 1990 Link-Pipe Inc. entered into a joint venture with a Japanese company with the aim to market SNAP-LOCK™ there and in other parts of the world. This joint venture is no longer doing business.
The following pictures show an early installation of SNAP-LOCK™. These pictures were taken 13 years after installation. The Stainless Steel shows no signs of deterioration. Link-Pipe Inc. has since created and patented the multiple new designs that are displayed here and that are far superior to these pioneering days.

The above shows multiple SNAP-LOCK™ sleeves used as a continuous liner.
