For repairs on pressure pipes, the main is taken
out of service and pre-inspection carried out using CCTV
camera. |
|

|
Pipe
condition needs to be determined at the time of first
inspection. After
the pipe is inspected and pipe condition recorded, the next step is to
clean the pipe. The pipe needs to be free from any debris,
intrusions, rust and mineral deposits.
Thorough cleaning can be accomplished using high-pressure water
jets, mechanical devices, sand-blasting, etc. Clean pipe
assures quality repair.
Contact Link-Pipe for
dewatering before sleeves are installed.
|
|
To
avoid damaging repair sleeves in the installation process, the
pressure plugs must be calibrated. Plug Calibration
pressure is the pressure required to inflate the plug
rubber to make contact with inside wall of the host pipe.

A REPAIR
SLEEVE comes in a package containing complete supplies
including the right amount of sealant.
Before Installation please read installation tips enclosed in
the shipping box. |

|
|
Step
#1:
The work area must be well
organized to allow space for work and easy safe access to
equipment.
|
|
Step
#2: Pour
Component- B (Hardener) into the bottle containing Component-
A (Resin).
Immediately
mix the resin. Use a mechanical mixer rotating at low
speed.
NOTE:
At
23°C (73°F) the
resin starts curing in approximately
30
minutes from the mixing.
|
|
Step
#3:
Separate 6 oz. of resin for
later use. The remaining resin is worked into the
felt using supplied paint rollers. The resin must be spread
evenly throughout the felt.
|

|
Step
#4:
- Flip
the felt over so the Epoxy Grout side is down against the
Plastic Sheet
- Paint
a thin layer of the stored 6 oz of the grout onto the film
side of the felt now
facing up
- Paint
a thin layer of the resin onto the Overlap End of the
Polyethylene foam gasket
- Place
the sleeve onto the felt
- Wrap
the Felt Sheet onto the Sleeve and place rubber, or wire bands
(supplied) around the sleeve to hold the sheet in place
The
Sleeve is now ready to be installed
|
|
|
Step
#5:
- Place
the sleeve onto the plug and reattach the wheels.
- Carefully
adjust the Air Regulator (2) to allow enough air pressure to
hold the sleeve and prevent it to slip off when being
handled or transported in the pipe.
BE SURE NOT
TO OVER INFLATE because this may uncoil the sleeve before it
arrives at the repair location.

|
|

|
Step
#6:
- CCTV camera is often connected to the Plug
cable looking back at the SLEEVE/plug assembly as it is
pulled into the pipe.
- Once the sleeve is brought into
repair position monitored by the CCTV
camera, the air pressure is introduced and the sleeve is expanded.
When full installation pressure is reached the sleeve locks
itself in place and the resin behind the sleeve starts curing.
Air pressure is then released immediately and equipment is
retrieved and put into position for next installation. There
is no need to hold the pressure inside the sleeve while resin
is curing, since the sleeve is designed as a self curing repair device.
|
|
The entire installation
process can be followed on
the CCTV monitor
|
|
The
plug inflation takes around 1.5 minutes. This completes
the Repair. |
